Assistant Chief Larry Miller began his career as an Auburn Police Officer in 1991 and has served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Internal Affairs Sergeant, Major Crimes Sergeant, Patrol Commander and Administrative Services Commander. In 1999, Assistant Chief Miller was awarded the Medal of Distinction for crowd control operations during the WTO riots in Seattle. Assistant Chief Miller has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership.

Assistant Chief Miller is a 20-year U.S. Army veteran (1967-1987) and completed a combat tour as a tank commander with the 4th Infantry in Vietnam in 1970. Assistant Chief Miller is an active member of the Auburn community and has served as a board member, vice president, and president on the White River Valley Museum Board of Directors and a captain for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life fundraiser.
