More than 3,000 Participants Expected at Auburn’s Marching Band Competition and Parade Nov. 8

Over 30 of the finest high school marching bands from Washington, Oregon and Idaho will compete in parade and field show competition

Marching Band - Veterans DayAuburn  High  School’s  28th annual  Veterans  Day  Marching  Band  Competition  will take place on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 1-9:30 p.m. at Auburn Memorial Stadium, 800 4th Street NE.  The Veterans Day Marching Bank Competition is hosted by the Auburn High School Band and Choir parents. Auburn’s show will feature the best in high school marching band music, precision (marching), and drill (formation) performances. Please join us as we honor our American Veterans and celebrate some of the finest high school musicians in their final performance of the season.

Over 30 marching bands will appear in Auburn’s 49th annual Veterans’ Day Parade beginning at 11 a.m. along Main Street, which constitutes preliminary marching competition. Bands come from as far away as Spokane, Cheney, Clarkston, Kennewick, Yakima, Wenatchee, Ferndale, Bellingham, Montesano, the Kitsap Peninsula, Astoria, Aloha and Hermiston, Ore.

Auburn’s Veterans’ Day Marching Band Competition is the largest and most prestigious marching band competition in our state, according to event organizers. Marching band enthusiasts and directors often refer to Auburn’s Competition as a championship in the state where the best-of-the-best compete for top honors and cap off their marching band season in style.

Ticket prices for all day admission are: adults $15; students (6-18 yrs.),  senior citizens (62+ yrs.), and military with ID $12. Proceeds from the field show competition benefit the band and choir programs at Auburn High School. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. with the first performance starting at 1 p.m. on the field. Handicap parking is available as well as handicap seating  in Auburn Memorial Stadium’s fully covered grandstand bleachers. Come rain or shine the show will go on as planned!

Auburn’s Mayor Nancy Backus along with Superintendent of the Auburn School District Dr. Kip Herren, and Auburn High School Principal Richard Zimmerman will present the trophies following a full band retreat on Auburn Memorial Field at 9:30 p.m. 

Auburn’s Choir Parents will operate two full service concessions to satisfy your hunger needs during the competition.
