2016 Art Walk Poster

On Friday, May 13, 5:30 – 8:30 pm, Auburn’s Historic Downtown will come alive with art, music and fine wine as Northwest artists display and sell their original handmade paintings, mosaics, and wearable artwork in downtown businesses.

The event is free with wine tasting pre-sale tickets available for purchase through May 12 at Corestar Pilates (205 E Main ST) and Zola's Cafe (402 E  Main ST) or online at auburnartwalk.comlinks to external site for $12. Tickets include 6 one-ounce tastes as well as a custom wine glass. Tickets may also be purchased at the event for $15.

Walking maps, tasting tickets, custom wine glass and ID check will be available at the information booths at The Arcade (222 E. Main) and parking lot at the corner of East D and Main Streets.

This spring’s walk will feature a special selection of artwork from inmates participating in Washington Correctional Center’s Art Spirit program, including this year's poster art, "Heart of Art,"  by inmate Jon Thompson. His art and the artwork of other artists participating in the program will be on display during the event.

The partnership between Auburn Art Walk and the Art Spirit program began when Auburn resident Rebecca Bell, who coordinates the program, approached the Board with the idea after inmates requested to be able to submit their art for public viewing.

"Being able to share their art with the community has helped them on the path to reintegration," said WCC Chaplain Greg Garringer.

Music during the event will spotlight two area groups, Crystal Chromatica and QuarterPast8.

Crystal Chromatica, the two man electronic group of brothers David and Steven Miranda, uses electronic drum set, multiple keyboards, and vocals. Their first EP “Aftermath” was released in January and a second EP is expected later this year. Catch them at Corestar Pilates.

QuarterPast8  is composed of Cat, Mike, Tony, and Jeff  who play primarily classic rock with a scattering of blues, classic country, jazz, and contemporary popular songs. They will rock it at Zola's Cafe.

The Auburn area is home to scores of creative artists as well as those who support the arts. We encourage everyone, of all generations, to come join in this fun opportunity to meet, learn and purchase from our local area artists.
