AUBURN, Wash.– July 17, 2012 - Auburn’s ArtRageous Festival will be held on Saturday, August 4, 11- 6 pm in Downtown Auburn and invites you to be part of the fun. Now in it’s fourth year, ArtRageous has become known as a great family festival where you can work alongside professional artists to make your own works of art. The festival will be moving from Les Gove Park to downtown Auburn, and with this move will be adding entertainment for all ages.

A beer and wine garden will be in Plaza Park across the street from the Main Stage that will be rocking the music of Mr. PinkWhiskey River Americas #1 Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Band and more, a juried art show will be on display in the City Hall Plaza gallery, artists will be in businesses throughout the downtown core as part of Art Walk, and we’ve got artists that will be showing you how to wood carve, transfer texture to metal, make prints, sculpt in clay and much more.

You can find and discover interactive temporary sculptures as you make your way through the blocks of the festival. Throughout the day you can locate, and then play a tune, on the four Pianos on Parade. These pianos have been given a new exterior via artist modification and will be out for three weeks for anyone to stop by and play anything from Chopsticks to Chopin. You can also find a sculptural installation that has 72 corked and empty wine bottles sandblasted with: Happiness and a list of ingredients: “Contains delight, smiles, joy, easy laughter & pure fun. Light humor added to preserve freshness.” Throughout the day individuals can take a bottle of Happiness and chat with artist Jeff Crandall. The sun will be shining, and the temporary installation entitled Pixilation by artist Nicole Kistler will be a striking circular fabric artwork that will be throughout City Hall Plaza interpreting what “bouncing light looks like”

Be sure to take part in the festivities and come downtown for an ArtRageous event on Saturday, August 4, 11 am – 6 pm.

ArtRageous is presented by the City of Auburn and made possible with the generous support from 4Culture and 4Culture Site Specific. For additional information, please visit www.auburnwa.gov/arts or contact the City of Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department at 253-931-3043.
