Auburn Downtown Association Celebrating 100 Year Old Carnegie Building

Carnegie BuildingThe oldest Carnegie Building in Auburn turns 100 years old this month! Now, the Auburn Dance and Music Center inhabits which was once the City of Auburn’s first free-standing library built in 1914 (pictured left c. 1914). This birthday party runs from 12 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 23 located at 306 Auburn Avenue. Come celebrate the Dance and Music Center, heritage, and the beauty of this building!

"We’re excited about the celebration which has been a long time in the making," says building and business owner Robert Smith, "in addition to the celebration we have been completing a lot of preservation projects with the support of 4Culture and other non-profit organizations.”

It is an amazing building which is still alive due to the commitment of Smith and his staff.

Those attending the event will enjoy refreshments and listening to a professional pianist during the afternoon. Inside, easels will display photographs of the building when it housed the Auburn Library.

The building is located in the downtown area of Auburn and is down the street from another Carnegie Building which was once the Post Office and later became a King County Health Center. This building is also located in the downtown district of Auburn near Main Street. The Auburn Dance and Music Center often participates in downtown activities coordinated by the Auburn Downtown Association.
