Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Now Accepting Registrations for 2015 Dog Trot Fun Run

Dog TrotThe Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation Department is currently accepting registrations for Auburn’s Dog Trot Fun Run, to be held Saturday, May 16 at 9:30 a.m. The first 100 participants to register will receive a FREE goodie bag valued at over $20! The early registration fee is $18 per person and includes an event T-Shirt. Late registrations, after April 24 are $23 per person and event day registration is $25 per person. T-Shirts are available on a limited basis for late and on-site registrations.

Dog Trot is a family-oriented fun run/walk event that takes place in conjunction with Petpalooza at Auburn’s Game Farm Park, 3030 R Street SE. Participants may choose between the 3K or the 5K routes. The course is flat, easy and enjoyable for all ages and ability levels. The City of Auburn has contracted with BuDu Racing, who will be handling ‘chip’ timing, giving participants the most accurate finish times. Awards will be distributed to the top participant in six age groups. Child (8 and under); Tween (9-12 years); Teen (13-19); Adult I (20-35); Adult II (36-54) and Senior (55+).

It’s an event for pet lovers and a special day for your four-legged family member or other furry friend. Auburn’s internationally award-winning Petpalooza festival will be held at Game Farm Park on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. kicked off with the Dog Trot 3K/5K Fun Run.

The FREE event will feature live entertainment that will include, among others, Roving Reptiles, Louie Foxx’s One Man Side Show, North West Animal Adventures and The Parrot Lady.  Petpalooza also includes pony rides, the ‘Unleashed’ Pet Contest, an agility area, demonstrations, give-a-ways, over 150 vendors and much more.

Also offered throughout the event is a local competition of the 2015 Hyperflite Skyhoundz Disc Dog Championships. Hyperflite’s sponsorship of the Skyhoundz Canine Disc World Championship series is the largest disc-dog series in the world. There is no entry fee for competitors and admission is free for all spectators (http://skyhoundz.com).

There will be plenty of activities to keep both humans and animals entertained at Auburn’s 8th annual Petpalooza festival.
