Auburn Residents Invited to I-502 Discussion Workshop on May 20

The City of Auburn is holding a public workshop as part of its ongoing effort towards developing and implementing the appropriate City code requirements in response to the passage of I-502 (recreational marijuana). The public workshop will give residents and stakeholders an opportunity to learn more about the legislation of I-502, as well as share and discuss their position on the topic of State licensed recreational marijuana uses in the City of Auburn.

The public workshop will be held on May 20, 2014, from 6:30 – 8:30pm in the Council Chambers of Auburn City Hall located at 25 West Main St., Auburn, WA 98001.

At the public workshop, City staff will present a brief presentation covering the following items:

  • What is I-502
  • Overview of State I-502 Regulations
  • Jurisdiction Comparison
  • Auburn Zoning and I-502
  • City Regulation Options
  • Anticipated Adoption Schedule

At the conclusion of the staff presentation, participants are encouraged to discuss their opinions and preferences for the allowance and regulation of State licensed recreational marijuana uses.

The goal of the I-502 discussion effort is for staff to understand and incorporate the opinions and preferences of the City’s residents and stakeholders to help guide the decision-making process as how to best address recreational marijuana in the City.
