Auburn's Kids Summerstage just around the corner

Kids Summer StageThe Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department is excited to announce the rockin’ 2013 line-up of the popular Kids Summerstage. The combination of entertainment and park activities is a treat for kids and grown-ups of all ages at these free afternoon concerts.

The series is held at Les Gove Park, 910 Ninth Street SE on Wednesdays at noon, beginning on July 10 and ending on August 28. The newly extended eight-week series will be held adjacent to the Discovery Playground. Attendees are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon in one of Auburn’s most beautiful parks.

The eight-week line up is as follows:

  • July 10 Recess Monkey - A trio of Seattle teachers that will entertain with their irresistibly catchy music.
  • July 17 – Magician Jeff Evans - A thrilling magic show that is sure to captivate audiences young and young-at-heart.
  • July 24 – Caspar Babypants - Also known as Chris Ballew from the famous Seattle band, The Presidents of the United States of America. He'll sing lively, catchy, simple songs that you and your child are sure to love.
  • July 31 – Roving Reptiles - Always a hit with kids, entertainer Clayton Green intrigues and educates his audience and provides a hands-on opportunity at the end of the show.
  • August 7 – The Magic of Louie Foxx - An interactive magic show, featuring amazing twists that appeal to kids and the adults who bring them.
  • August 14 – Rolie Polie Guacamole - Straight from Brooklyn, New York; Auburn is fortunate to be on this group's summer tour. The show is full of engaging and entertaining tunes for the whole family to enjoy.
  • August 21 – Sing Along Fun with Nancy Stewart - Enjoy the energetic and witty music of award-winning singer-songwriter, Nancy Stewart.
  • August 28 – Johnny Bregar - Rootsy, jazzy and bluesy tunes that are simple and catchy and enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

And if entertainment wasn’t enough, an ArtRageous hands-on art activity has been added to the July 31, August 14 and August 21 events. Participants will get the opportunity to learn various art techniques from professional artists. Some craft projects will be offered as take-home projects, while others will be a collaborative project, such as making a salmon coastal print with artist Amaranta Ibara. These free art activities will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the above dates.
