Auburn High School’s 26th annual Veterans Day Marching Band Competition is Saturday, Nov. 10 from 1:30-9:00 PM at Auburn Memorial Stadium, across the street from Auburn Senior High School. The Veterans Day competition is hosted by the Auburn High School Band and Choir Parents. This event will feature the best in high school marching band music, precision (marching) and drill (formation) performances.

Over 30 of the finest high school marching bands from Washington and Oregon will compete in this year’s Parade and Field Show Competition. According to Sue Hoffman and Teena Bailie, Competition Directors, Auburn’s Veterans’ Day Marching Band Competition is the largest, most prestigious and longest running marching band competition in Washington state. Many of the area’s marching band directors refer to Auburn’s Competition as a championship. Auburn is where the best-of-the-best compete for top honors to cap off their marching band season in style.

Twenty-five high school marching bands will appear in Auburn’s 47th annual Veterans’ Day Parade beginning at 11:00 AM along Main Street, which constitutes preliminary marching competition. Among those are bands from as far away as Clarkston, Wash., Spokane, Wash., Kennewick, Wash., Yakima, Wash., Montesano, Wash., Bellingham, Wash., the Kitsap Peninsula, Portland, Ore. and Hermiston, Ore. You will also see all three Auburn School District bands along with first-time parade participant, Cascade Middle School Spartan Marching Band.

Auburn Mayor Pete Lewis and his wife Kathy; Dr. Kip Herren, Superintendent of the Auburn School District; and Richard Zimmerman, Principal of Auburn High School will present the awards following a full Band Retreat at 9:00 PM on Auburn’s Memorial Field.

Ticket prices for all day admission are: Adults $15; College students (18+) $15; Students (ages 6-18), Senior Citizens (62+), and Military with ID $10. Proceeds from the marching band competition benefit the entire Band and Choir programs at Auburn Senior High School. Gates open at 12:00 PM with the first performance starting at 1:30 PM.
