Child (8 and under); Tween (9-12 years); Teen (13-19); Adult I (20-35); Adult II (36-54) and Senior (55+). In order to be eligible for an award, participants must compete with a dog.

It’s an event for pet lovers and a special day for your four-legged family member or other furry friend. Auburn’s internationally award-winning Petpalooza event will be held at Game Farm Park on May 18 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and will kick off with the Dog Trot 3K/5K Fun Run.

The FREE event will feature live entertainment on Banfield Pet Hospital’s Main Stage that will include, among others, Roving Reptiles, The Fabulous Murphtones and The Parrot Lady. Petpalooza also includes a noon pet parade, pony rides, Reber Ranch’s ‘Unleashed’ Pet Contest, an agility area, demonstrations, over 150 vendors and much more.

Also offered throughout the event is a local competition of the 2013 Hyperflite Skyhoundz Disc Dog Championships. Hyperflite’s sponsorship of the Skyhoundz Canine Disc World Championship series is the largest disc-dog series in the world. There is no entry fee for competitors and admission is free for all spectators (www.hyperflite.com/competition.html).

Back again is the widely popular 20’ x 40’ petting zoo, a Kids’ AG-Ventureland Activity Area, GASCAR Crazy Animal Racing and Farmyard Follies Shows, all contracted through the Great American Animal Entertainment Co. This petting zoo is a different kind of petting zoo. There are no barriers once inside the enclosure and all the animals run freely with the public. The zoo includes a wide variety of animals including wallabies, llamas and exotic goats. The AG-Ventureland includes goat and cow milking, corn and bean play boxes, pony saddling and more.

The exciting GASCAR races is inter-species animal racing like you’ve never seen before! Goats, sheep, chickens, pigs and other surprise animals wear racing silks as they hoof and waddle their way around and sometimes over the track! Finally, the Farmyard Follies is a delightful show that includes animal behavior, hilarious antics and interesting facts. New to this year’s festival is a hands-on Bug Zoo, which will feature a variety of arthopods; several which may be touched and/or held. Five more reasons to come to Petpalooza!

There will be plenty of activities to keep both humans and animals entertained at Auburn’s 6th annual Petpalooza festival. Petpalooza is sponsored by Green River Veterinary Hospital and Laser Surgery, Banfield Pet Hospital, Del’s Feed & Farm Supply and Petco.
