The Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department is excited to announce the Summer Sounds & Cinema Series 2014 line-up. The combination of entertainment and movies will ensure these Friday nights in Auburn are blockbuster evenings.

The first of the two events is held at Sunset Park, 1306 69th Street SE on Friday, Aug. 1 at 7 p.m., with entertainment provided by Seattle’s premier 80s hair rock tribute band, Hairstorm. Following the 90-minute concert is a screening of Despicable Me 2 (PG). Featured at the event is an ArtRageous hands-on art activity, led by artist Damara Jacobs-Morris. Auburn’s King Solomon Lodge will be providing free Child ID kits, while Reliance Church will be offering inflatable rides and face painting.

On Aug. 15, the second and final concert and movie of the season will be held at Les Gove Park, 910 Ninth St. SE. Entertainment will begin at 7 p.m. and will be provided by Crème Tangerine, a live Beatles music experience. The movie, Turbo (PG), will be shown on an inflatable, 50-foot movie screen at dusk. Auburn’s King Solomon Lodge will be back again with their free Child ID kits.

Food concessions, operated by the Auburn Youth Council, will be available at the events for a nominal fee. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets for a refreshing evening under the stars!
