Family-friendly outdoor entertainment and blockbuster movies coming this summer to Auburn!

The Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department is excited to announce the Summer Sounds & Cinema Series 2013 line-up. The combination of entertainment and movies will ensure these Friday nights in Auburn are blockbuster evenings.

The first of the two events is held at Sunset Park, 1306 69th Street SE on Friday, August 2 with entertainment provided by top Beatles tribute band, Crème Tangerine and a screening of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (PG). Featured at the event is an ArtRageous hands-on art activity, led by artist Maury Toohey-Carlisle. Participants will have the opportunity to create glow in the dark salmon hats. Auburn’s King Solomon Lodge will be providing free Child ID kits, while Reliance Church will be offering other free children’s activities.

On August 16, the second and final concert and movie of the season will be held at Les Gove Park, 910 Ninth Street SE. Entertainment will be provided by The Rae Solomon Band, led by Rae Solomon, Seattle’s country music darling and the movie is Puss in Boots (PG). Auburn’s King Solomon Lodge will be providing free Child ID kits, while Veritas Church will be offering other free children’s activities.

Food concessions, operated by the Auburn Youth Council will be available at the events for a nominal fee. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets for a refreshing evening under the stars!
