City to install new banners downtown in honor of 50th Anniversary of Veterans Day Parade

Tribute banners available for individual recognition, applications due September 4, 2015

To honor and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the City of Auburn Veteran’s Day Parade, new street pole banners will line the streets of downtown Auburn. The “Our Heroes, Our Parade” banners will be displayed on Main Street from Auburn Way S. to B St. NE and along Division St. from Main St. to 3rd St. SE from the end of September through mid-November.

Individuals, family members, business, or groups and organizations looking to recognize and pay tribute to the brave men and women in Auburn who are serving, have served, or have given their life to our country in the United States Armed Forces are encourage to purchase a tribute banner. These individualized tribute banners, sized 30 in. x 12 in. will hang below the main “Our Heroes, Our Parade” banners. Six banner categories are available for purchase as follows:

  • Active Duty (In Honor of) - $75
  • Veteran (In Honor of) - $75
  • Veteran (In Memory of) - $75
  • Veteran Service Organization (Supported by) - $150
  • Non-Profit Entity providing military or veterans services (Supported by) - $150
  • Commercial Sponsorship (Supported by) - $300

To be eligible for a tribute banner, individuals must be currently serving on active duty in the United States Armed Forces (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard or be a veteran who was honorably discharged or given their life serving in the United States Armed Forces and be a permanent resident of Auburn or have an immediate family member residing in Auburn. Companies, businesses, Veteran Service Organization, and non-profit entities that provide services to veterans or military also qualify to participate by purchasing a “supported by” tribute banner.

Tribute banner applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and the application deadline is Friday, September 4, 2015 to be hung during 2015. All banner locations shall be determined solely by the City of Auburn. “Our Heroes, Our Parade”  Banners will be removed in mid-November and put back up the following year in mid-September. After hanging, the individualized tribute portion of the banner will be permanently removed and given to the individual that purchased the tribute banner.
