Registration for Auburn’s 50th annual Veterans Day Parade is currently underway

Award Winning 50th Annual Event to be Held on November 7 on Auburn’s Main Street

The City of Auburn has begun accepting applications for the annual Veterans Day Parade. Official applications may be picked up at the a Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Office, located at 2840 Riverwalk Drive or downloaded from the City of Auburn’s website at www.auburnwa.gov/vetsday. The extra-special 50th annual event will be held on Saturday, November 7 with the parade beginning promptly at 11 a.m. The parade is limited to approximately 200 entries and will be viewed by tens of thousands.

Parade applications must be received by Oct. 2 to be considered. Applications can be faxed to 253-931-4005 or can be mailed or hand-delivered to the Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Office. Interested applicants may also register on the city’s website.  Applications will be reviewed after the deadline and entries chosen will receive an official confirmation and complete event information.


The National Veterans Day Committee and the US Department of Veterans Affairs have once again selected the City of Auburn as one of the few regional sites for Veterans Day Observance in 2015. The mile-long parade, one of the largest of its kind in the United States, includes nearly 6,000 parade participants and features military marching units and vehicles, veteran units, marching bands, honor guards, drill teams, antique military vehicles and equipment, as well as floats, antique cars and more. The parade will proceed west on Main Street from E Street NE to A Street NW.

Other events related to the Veterans Day celebration in Auburn include a Remembrance Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, a Static Display & Exhibit Showcase, a breakfast and luncheon to honor veterans, a variety of programs/performances at the Auburn Avenue Theater, the state’s largest marching band competition and more.

To further celebrate the 50th anniversary, the City of Auburn has created the ‘Our Heroes | Our Parade’ Veterans Banner Program. The program was created to recognize and pay tribute to the brave men and women in Auburn who are serving, have served or have given their life to our country in the United States Armed Forces.  It also provides an opportunity for individuals, businesses and Veteran Service Organizations to support those who have served by sponsoring a banner in downtown Auburn.  The application deadline for the ‘Our Heroes | Our Parade’ banners is Friday, Sept. 4.
