Washington State’s Largest Marching Band Competition Participants to Compete in Auburn's Veterans Day Marching Band Competition

Marching BandAuburn High School’s 27th annual Veterans’ Day Marching Band Competition is Saturday, Nov. 9 from 1-9:30pm at Auburn Memorial Stadium, across the street from Auburn High School.  The Veterans Day competition is hosted by the Auburn High School Band and Choir Parents. This event will feature the best in high school marching band music, precision (marching) and drill (formation) performances.

Over 30 of the finest high school marching bands from Washington, Oregon and Idaho will compete in this year’s Parade and Field Show Competition.  According to Sue Hoffman and Teena Bailie, Event Directors, Auburn’s Veterans’ Day Marching Band Competition is the largest, most prestigious and longest running marching band competition in our state.  Many of the area’s marching band directors refer to Auburn’s Show as a championship event where the “Best of the Best” compete for top honors to cap off their marching band season in style.

Twenty-six high school marching bands will appear in Auburn’s 48th annual Veterans Day Parade beginning at 11am along Main Street, which constitutes preliminary marching competition. Among those are bands from as far away as Burley (Id)., Clarkston (Wash.), Spokane, Kennewick (Wash.), Yakima (Wash.), Bellingham (Wash.), Montesano (Wash.), the Kitsap Peninsula, Grants Pass and Hermiston (Ore.).

Auburn’s Mayor Pete Lewis and his wife Kathy, Dr. Kip Herren, Superintendent of the Auburn School District and Richard Zimmerman, Principal of Auburn High School will present the trophies following a full Band Retreat on Auburn’s Troy Field at 9:30pm.  Please join us as we honor our American Veterans!

Ticket prices for all day admission are: Adults $15, Students (ages 6-18), Senior Citizens (62+) and Military with ID, $12. Proceeds from the marching band competition benefit the entire band program at Auburn Senior High School.

Gates open at 1:00pm with the first performance starting at 1:15pm on Troy Field.  Auburn’s Choir Parents will be operating two full service concessions during the competition.  Handicap parking and seating is available in Auburn Memorial Stadium’s fully covered grandstand bleachers.  This is a rain or shine event.
