VRFA Offers Free Hands-On Fire Extinguisher Training

VRFA logoIf you have wondered what you would do if faced with a small fire in your home or business, now is your chance to learn. The Valley Regional Fire Authority is offering free hands-on fire extinguisher training this summer. Classes are open to Algona, Auburn and Pacific businesses and residents.

Two training days will be offered, with hour-long sessions beginning at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The first session will take place Tuesday, June 4, at Fire Station 35, located at 2905 C St. SW, Auburn (in the GSA complex). The second session will be held Wednesday, July 17, at Headquarters Fire Station 31, located at 1101 D St. NE in Auburn.

Participants will learn how to select and properly maintain a portable fire extinguisher, as well as how to extinguish small fires safely. A live fire demonstration will give students the opportunity for hands-on practice with a fire extinguisher.

To register, or ask any questions, please contact the VRFA Public Education Staff at public.info@vrfa.org or call 253-288-5881 or 253-288-5882.
