Permit center

Welcome to the City of Auburn's Permit Center. We are here to assist our customers through every aspect of the permitting process, from initial questions and pre-application meetings through inspections and final certificate of occupancy. You may also file for a new or renew an existing business license at the Permit Center.

Our mission is to provide expeditious and quality services and a positive customer experience for those seeking development permits from the City of Auburn.

To achieve our mission, we continually strive to:

Permit and Application Fees

Please contact the Permit Center at 253-931-3090 to verify fees prior to submitting your application.

Location

We are located on the second floor at 1 East Main ST in Downtown Auburn. There is plenty of free parking available nearby. To apply for a residential plumbing or mechanical permit see our online permit system.

Hours

The Permit Center is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.

  • Building Official for questions or concerns related to building code issues, building inspections, building plan reviews, and street addressing.
  • Development Engineer for questions or concerns related to the extension of public water, sewer, storm and street improvements, grading permits, engineering design standards, or processes for development.
  • Permit Center Technician for questions or concerns related to permit submittal requirements, scheduling an inspection, business license applications, and application status. In addition, for questions of concerns related to scheduling a pre-application meeting or status of SEPA/land use applications.
  • Utility Technician for questions or concerns related to utility connection permits or fees.
