Other Agencies & Links

There are many agencies involved in the development/permitting process. We have attempted to provide information about some of the agencies we frequently refer our customers to in the course of our work.

Electrical permits and inspections are handled through the Department of Labor and Industries. Contact them at (206) 835-1111 or visit the Department of Labor & Industries website.

If you want to move a mobile or manufactured home into the City of Auburn, you will need to secure a permit from the Building Division in order to install the mobile or manufactured home. Even though a mobile or manufactured home may be located in the City Limits of Auburn, there are other agencies that have jurisdiction over the interior of the structure.

If you want to do the following alterations to a manufactured or mobile home please refer the Department of Labor & Industries website.

  • Heat pump/air conditioning installations
  • Wood/pellet/gas stove installations
  • Changing from electric to gas appliances
  • Electrical or plumbing changes
  • Structural changes or additions

By law, contractors are required to be registered by the State. To find out about a contractor's registration status, you may call 1-800-647-0982 or find it on the Department of Labor & Industries website.

In addition to Auburn Building Division review, the King County Health Department reviews plans for structures served by septic systems, restaurants and commercial swimming pools. For commercial projects, you may reach them at (206) 296-4787. For residential projects, call (206) 296-4932 or visit the King County website for more information.
