Maintenance & OperationsThe City of Auburn Public Works Department directs the activities performed by Maintenance and Operations, and is responsible for providing a broad range of services to the community. We are committed to providing quality service by developing and implementing work practices that are proactive, cost-effective and efficient with the least amount of inconvenience to the public. Six divisions are headquartered at the Maintenance and Operation Center. A brief summary of each unit is provided below. Water DivisionWater Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water supply and distribution system for a large portion of the Lea Hill area and most of the City of Auburn. A small section in the Lakeland Hills Development receives it water from the City of Bonney Lake, and part of the West Hill falls under the jurisdiction of the Lakehaven Water District. If are unsure of who your water purveyor is, examine your water bill or contact us for verification. Water Division infrastructure consists of mains, service connections, meters, valves, fire hydrants, reservoirs, pump stations, monitoring equipment, wells, springs and treatment facilities. Storm Drainage DivisionThe Storm Drainage Division is responsible for the upkeep of City drainage conveyances that collect and discharge surface and storm water. This includes maintenance and inspection of pipes, roadside ditches, catch basins, pump lift stations, bioswales and storm ponds. Additional duties include street sweeping and right-of-way mowing. Sanitary Sewer DivisionThe Sanitary Sewer Division maintains and repairs the sewer collection system within the City of Auburn and a portion of Lea Hill. Sanitary Sewer's primary responsibilities include maintenance and inspection of the gravity flow mains, force mains and pump lift stations. They ensure that wastewater generated from residences, businesses and other users is collected and safely conveyed to the various King County trunk lines dispersed throughout the City. Street DivisionStreet Division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of City streets, alleys, curbs, gutters, guardrails, traffic control signs, unpaved shoulders, street lights and traffic control markings. Additional duties include snow plowing and sanding activities for management of ice conditions. Traffic DivisionTraffic Division is responsible for the maintenance and operation of City traffic signals, crosswalk signals, traffic cameras, traffic sensing equipment and associated control boxes. Equipment Rental DivisionThe Equipment Rental Division Team is responsible for ensuring that the City's vehicle and equipment fleet is in top working condition by performing regularly scheduled preventative maintenance and accomplishing repairs promptly and accurately. Equipment Rental also maintains a fleet database, which is used to collect and monitor all maintenance and repair expenditures, and fuel consumption.
