Gene Cerino

Gene Cerino was elected to the Auburn City Council in 1995. Cerino is the Chair of the Municipal Services Committee and serves on the as Vice-Chair for Public Works Committee. In addition, he is presently Auburn's representative on the Pierce County Review Committee and the Pierce County City and Towns Committee, where he represents the other Cities of Pierce County on the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) Transportation Committee. Other areas he has also been involved in are the Finance Committee, Planning and Community Development, the LEOFF Board and the Wellness Committee at the Auburn Senior Activity Center.

A WWII veteran, Cerino's strong background includes living in Alaska for nine years when Alaska was still a territory. In Alaska he worked construction and had a commercial fishing boat. From there he became a teacher and taught for 27 years. He retired from Auburn High in 1982 where he was the original wrestling coach for 20 years and was recently inducted as a member of the State and National Wrestling Hall of Fame. After retiring from teaching and coaching he became a sub-contractor in the waterproofing field. After ten successful years in the waterproofing business, he retired in 1992 at the age of 65.

Cerino received a Bachelors Degree from Washington State University in 1954 and has added over 100 quarter hours since then.

Cerino and his wife, Frances, have raised four children in Auburn and all of them reside in the Auburn area today.
