About us

Auburn's transportation system is managed by the Street Department (Maintenance & Operations) and the Transportation section (Engineering and Planning). Both are part of the Public Works Department.

The city's street department has a total of 214 centerline miles of roadways to maintain. Some of the maintenance duties include pavement patching, crack sealing, roadside vegetation management, snow and ice removal, alley and shoulder grading, street signage, street lighting and traffic markings.

The transportation section is responsible for administrative and engineering duties including right-of-way management, comprehensive transportation system planning, capital project development, grant management, traffic signal maintenance and operations, budget management, and interaction and regulation of development.
