Street & Pavement Maintenance

The City is responsible for maintaining 211 miles of streets of which 92 miles are arterial and collector streets (major streets) and 119 miles are local streets (aka residential streets). This Functional Roadway Classification Map (PDF) shows which streets in Auburn are classified as arterials, collectors, and local.

The City has created the following programs to preserve and rehabilitate Auburn’s streets. More information about these programs can be found by clicking the links on the left.

Save Our Street Program (Local Street Pavement Preservation) – This program implements pavement preservation and/or rehabilitation projects each year, focusing on the City’s local streets.
Arterial & Collector Street Pavement Preservation – This program implements pavement preservation and/or rehabilitation projects each year, focusing on the City’s arterial and collector streets.
Pothole Repair – The City has a “pothole patrol” that will promptly fix potholes reported by the public.
Channelization (Lane and Crosswalk Markings) Maintenance Program – This program refreshed the majority of channelization markings in the City each year. This includes lane markings, crosswalk markings, and stop bar markings.
