Connecting You To...Diversity

Welcome to Auburn's Diversity webpage. As our community is becoming more diverse with its unique blend of cultural, ethnic, generational, religious, and economic backgrounds, we are excited to find the best ways to work together and provide equitable access to community resources.

Here is some information about who lives in our community:

In May 2008, through the passage of Resolution No. 4345, the City of Auburn joined a growing number of cities across the nation in a partnership to build inclusive communities. The Partnership for Working Toward Inclusive Communities is an initiative promoted by the National League of Cities to help the development of communities. Through this partnership Auburn has committed to:
  • Development of an Inclusive Community by promoting citizen participation and engagement.
  • Plan projects of community engagement that will provide a tangible, successful experience of community-wide collaboration and problem solving.
  • Embrace the power of "we" and make everyone feel welcome.
  • Support such issues as racial justice and inclusionary zoning.
  • Celebrate the diversity of race, age, socio-economics, religion and cultures in order to build a community that is accepting and representative of the differences among its citizens.
As our community continues to expand we want to be even more proactive in maintaining inclusive activities that build bridges of common interests while maintaining respect for our unique differences.

The Diversity Program would like to invite you to partner with us in several ways:

Diversity Roundtable

Become involved in our active Diversity Roundtable comprised of community leaders representing our  diverse groups in Auburn. We need representatives from all groups, including: ethnic/race representatives, religious/faith-based representatives, neighborhood representatives, representatives from all generations and representatives from all socio-economic circumstances.
