Do The Right Thing! License Your Dog Or Cat!
Auburn residents love their pets. Our furry friends are our companions, confidants, and members of our family. They go on errands with us and settle down on the couch with us for movie night. It only makes sense that we would want them to be safe and protected. The best way to do that is to make sure that they are licensed.
When you license your dog or cat or both, you are not only helping your animal, but also others who may need help or assistance. Specifically, pet licensing:
- Helps get your pet home if it gets lost
- Funds animal cruelty investigations
- Assists with pet adoptions
- Funds animal shelter services
- Helps care for injured and lost pets
NOTE: If your residential address is in the City of Auburn (whether you live in King or Pierce County), all indoor/outdoor dogs and cats must be licensed with King County each year.
For more information on pet licensing, please contact King County at 206-296-2712. You may also contact the City of Auburn Planning & Development Department at 253-931-3090.

New permanent pet license tags
Beginning in January 2011, Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) will issue permanent pet license tags for all new and renewed pet licenses. The permanent tag replaces the annually-issued aluminum pet license tag and is made of durable stainless steel intended to last for the life of the pet. The switch is designed to reduce operating costs and increase efficiency, ultimately allocating more funds to provide animal welfare services in our communities. Replacement of lost or damaged permanent tags can be done in person at over 100 locations throughout King County or by mail. Replacement of a permanent tag is currently $5. Contact King County's Regional Animal Services' Pet License Office at 206-296-2712 for more information.
