Auburn Way South – Muckleshoot Plaza to Dogwood Street SE

The Auburn Way South Corridor Improvements Project (Muckleshoot Plaza to Dogwood Street SE) is now underway. When complete, this project will improve pedestrian and vehicle safety and will help reduce congestion and traffic delays. Construction activities are expected to be on going from now until next spring, 2018. The roadway will remain open during construction and access to all businesses will be maintained. However, the construction work will require temporary lane closures and shifts that will cause delays. Lane closures will generally be limited to certain times to reduce their impacts:

To accommodate commuter traffic lane restriction hours are as follows:

  • eastbound lane closures from 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM
  • westbound lane closures from 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM

Heavy congestion is anticipated during the lane restriction hours noted above; please plan accordingly.

In addition, the speed limit through the work zone is also being reduced to 35 mph due to the narrowed lanes and lane shifts. This will provide a safer work zone for our construction crews onsite as well as the traveling public driving through the project limits.

Access to residences and businesses within the project area will be maintained during construction. This work is dependent on weather.

For more information, contact the City of Auburn Community Development and Public Works Department at 253-931-3010, the Construction, Inspector Seth Loop at 253-804-5082, or the Project Engineer, Matthew Larson at 253-804-5032.
