Bill Pierson

Assistant Chief Bill Pierson started his career in law enforcement in 1984 as a Sheriff Cadet with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office and in 1987 was appointed as a Reserve Officer with Kitsap County and the city of Pullman.

Assistant Chief Pierson was hired with the city of Auburn in 1990 and was assigned to the Patrol Division where he was awarded the Medal of Distinction while in field training. In 1993, Assistant Chief Pierson became the Auburn Police Departments first Community Policing Bicycle Officer. In 1994, he was appointed as a Narcotic Detective and served on the SWAT Team as a Marksman for 5 years.

In 1997, Assistant Chief Pierson was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned back to the Patrol Division where he supervised the Field Training Unit. He is a certified Firearms Instructor and in 1998 became the Range Master for firearms training in 2002. Assistant Chief Pierson was assigned as the Special Investigations Sergeant where he supervised narcotic investigations and proactive detectives investigating vice crimes. Assistant Chief Pierson was assigned to the Inspectional Services Unit where he attained state and federal grants and investigated Internal Affairs issues.

Assistant Chief Pierson was promoted to the rank of Commander in 2005 and was assigned to the Patrol Division where he managed seven sergeants, the Field Training Unit, defensive tactics and firearms training. Pierson was re-assigned to the Support Services Division where he managed the Training Unit, Community Response Team, DARE and Accreditation.

Assistant Chief Pierson earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with an emphasis on Public Policy, Law and Social Control from Washington State University. Assistant Chief Pierson is member of the Auburn Kiwanis and graduate of the Leadership institute of South Puget Sound in 2005.
