1. How Do I File a Police Report?You can file a non-emergency report online with our Citizen Online Incident Reporting. If this is an emergency, please call 911. 2. How Do I Get Fingerprinted?Please call 253-931-3080 during business hours (Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-5:00 PM) for fingerprint days and times. The police department lobby is located in the SW corner of the Auburn Justice Center, 340 East Main ST, Suite 201, Auburn, WA 98002. You will be charged $15.00 per fingerprint card (typically only one card is required). Please bring picture identification and you must bring your own fingerprint cards. Payment may be made by cash, check or money orders made out to City of Auburn. 3. How Do I Obtain a Concealed Pistol Permit?Concealed pistol permits are issued through the Auburn Police Department. Please call 253-931-3080 during business hours (Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-5:00 PM) for days and times. Renewals can be processed Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. The police department lobby is located in the SW corner of the Auburn Justice Center, 340 E Main ST, Suite 201, Auburn, WA 98002. You must be an Auburn resident to apply for a permit through the Auburn Police Department. Unincorporated King County residents that have an Auburn address must apply through the King County Sheriff's Office. An application must be completed and fingerprints taken. If a Washington State Identification Card or Driver's License is provided, the time period required for a background check is 30 days. If the license or ID card is from out of state or if you have lived in the state of Washington less than 90 days, the waiting period is 60 days. The processing fee for an original permit is $52.50 and must be paid at the time of application. If renewal of the permit is made within 90 days prior to the expiration, the fee is $32. If renewal is during the 90 days after the permit expires, the fee is $42. After 90 days past the permit's expiration date, it is necessary to start the process over. The fee for replacement of a permit is $10. All fees must be paid upon application and are non-refundable. 4. How Do I Get Information on My Criminal History?Criminal convictions are public record and a record of that information (or lack of convictions) is available from the Washington State Patrol Records Section. 5. How Do I Obtain a Police Report?The Auburn Police Department has specific policies and procedures regarding the release of reports, which are in compliance with the laws that regulate public disclosure with privacy rights. If you are an involved party or the registered owner of a vehicle involved in a collision: You may make a request for a copy of the collision report in person at the Auburn Police Department on a walk-in basis Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. Report to the police department lobby during that time and notify a police specialist of your request. You must show valid identification to receive the report. How Do I Get a Protection Order?All domestic-violence-related protection orders may be obtained through the Auburn Municipal Court. The Auburn Municipal Court is located in the Auburn Justice Center at 340 E Main ST, Suite 101. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, closed holidays and weekends. Call 253-931-3076 for further information. All other protective orders must be obtained through the King County Superior Court 7. How Do I Reclaim evidence or property?In order to get property returned, the detective or officer who is responsible for your case must have submitted a signed release for the property before the Evidence Unit can release anything to you. If you do not know the Detective or Officer responsible for your case, our Records Unit at 253-931-3080 can help you locate that information. When you call, they will ask you for the Auburn Police Department Incident (case) number. This number should have been provided to you when the property was initially taken. It will always begin with the year in which the incident occurred (example: 06-00000). Call the Evidence Unit at 253-931-3083 to find out if a release has been received before coming down to pick up your property. Provide the Evidence Unit with your Incident number and they will tell you if any property has been released in your name. The Evidence Unit is located at 340 E Main ST. The building is a secondary structure south of the Auburn Justice Center and is accessed off of D ST SE. You must have valid personal, government issued, photo identification for property to be released. The unit is open to the public by appointment only. 8. How Do I Pay a Parking Ticket?Auburn Police Department issued parking ticket payment is handled by the Auburn Municipal Court. Tickets can be paid with a valid credit card Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, over the phone at 253-931-3076. 10. How Do I Become A Volunteer?The first step is to request a volunteer application. When the application has been completed and returned, it is reviewed by the Community Program Officer. All volunteers submit to a criminal background check, including sex offenses. A panel consisting of the Administrative Services Sergeant, Community Programs Officer, and a Volunteer conducts a personal interview and references are checked. When this process is complete an ID badge is issued and training begins. It's an opportunity to serve the community. Get information about installing a surveillance camera in my neighborhood.The video surveillance camera has become a popular security measure for individual homeowners and homeowner associations who want to keep an eye on the behavior of those who are in and around their property. Surveillance cameras can provide a deterrent to criminal activity and a record when criminal activity occurs that can assist police in identifying the perpetrator(s). In order for your recorded video to be of assistance to the police department in recording criminal incidents and identifying suspects, it must have a compatible recording format and possess sufficient resolution capabilities during both low light and daytime recording.
