AUBURN, Wash. – September 28, 2010 – This week the City of Auburn has added two more locations to purchase pet licenses for dog and cats. In addition to the location at City Hall located at 25 West Main St. licenses can also be purchased at:

  • City of Auburn Permit Center, 1 East Main St. (located on the second floor in the Customer Service Center)
  • Parks, Arts & Recreation, 909 Ninth St. SE

All locations will be open Monday – Friday during regular business hours. King County annual licensing fees are as follows:

  • Cats or dogs that are under 6 months of age: $15
  • Spayed or neutered animals: $30
  • Non-spayed or non-neutered pets: $60
  • Owners that are 65 years of age or older, spayed or neutered animal: $15

Auburn is a partner with King County’s new Regional Animal Services program. In King County, all dogs and cats, whether they are indoor pets or not, must be licensed each year.

Besides helping your pet get home if it gets lost, the money raised from animal licensing provides regular updates when rabies vaccinations are due, funds animal cruelty investigations and provides resources to address complaints about vicious animals, and helps care for injured and lost animals and pet adoptions.

Beginning this weekend, canvassers from the City of Auburn will soon be performing door-to-door visits in different parts of the city to help license pets providing a license tag on the spot for new and renewed licenses. There will be no extra charge for this door-to-door licensing service.

Pet owners can also license their dogs or cats directly with King County online, in person or by mail. For more information on licensing, visit www.auburnwa.gov/petlicense or call 206-296-2712.
