Auburn Parks Department Announces New Horsemanship and Art Classes; Registration Now Open

AUBURN, Wash. – January 4, 2010 – The City of Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation department is pleased to announce the addition of youth and adult horsemanship classes this winter. This class will teach the young first-time rider basic safety, grooming, and balance. Youth (age 7-11), teen (11-15) and adult (16 and over) classes will be offered. Registration for this and other classes in now open. First class begins Jan. 5, 2010 and will take place at Morris’s Shadow Mt Stables, Auburn.

Registration is also open for youth painting and drawing classes. Painting class will explore watercolor and tempera painting techniques and students will learn about color theory and expressive painting. Class begins Jan. 13 at the Les Gove Park Multipurpose Building.

Young artists can also take advantage of two drawing classes depending on age. The Drawing I class for artists aged 6-8 years explores the fundamental elements of drawing and representational drawing skills in drawings of the animal kingdom and instructor led art. Class begins Jan. 12. The Drawing II class for those aged 9-12 years will learn realistic and imaginary drawing using the elements and principles of art and will begin Jan. 14 and will meet at the Auburn Senior Activity Center.

Be sure to join the fun in a fun and active recital dance class. Classes are available for dancers aged preschool – 12 years. Preschoolers (age 3 – 5 years) can join recital ballerina enchantment or creative ballet and tap; youth aged 5 – 12 years can take recital tap and ballet or a jazz/hip hop class.
