Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Now Accepting Registrations for Dog Trot Fun Run

A fun run designed for dog owners and their four-legged friends – choose from 3K or 5K

AUBURN, Wash. – December 6, 2010 - The Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation Department is currently accepting registrations for Auburn’s Dog Trot Fun Run, to be held Saturday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m. The first 100 participants to register will receive a FREE goodie bag valued at over $15! The early registration fee is $15 per person and includes an event T-Shirt. Late registration and event day registration is $20 per entry. T-Shirts are available on a limited basis for late registrations.

Dog Trot is a family-oriented fun run/walk event that takes place in conjunction with Petpalooza at Auburn’s Game Farm Park, 3030 R Street SE. Participants may choose between the 3K or the 5K routes. The course is flat, easy and enjoyable for all ages and ability levels. Awards will be distributed to the top participant in six age groups. Child (8 and under); Tween (9-12 years); Teen (13-19); Adult I (20-35); Adult II (36-54) and Senior (55+).

Participants may register at the Parks, Arts & Recreation Office, 910 Ninth Street SE, fax to 253-931-4005 or mail to 910 Ninth Street SE, Auburn, WA 98002. The registration form and complete event rules/information are listed on the city’s website, www.auburnwa.gov.

ABOUT PETPALOOZA
An event for pet lovers and a special day for your four-legged family member or other furry friend. Auburn’s award-winning Petpalooza event will be held at Game Farm Park on May 21 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and will kick off with the Dog Trot 3K/5K Fun Run.

The FREE event will feature an animal-related entertainment stage that will include, among others, Reptile Isle; a noon pet parade, animal petting, pony rides, the popular ‘Unleashed’ Pet Contest, children’s inflatable rides, demonstrations, over 150 vendors and much more.

Also offered throughout the event is a local competition of the 2011 Hyperflite Skyhoundz Disc Dog Championships. Hyperflite’s sponsorship of the Skyhoundz Canine Disc World Championship series is the largest disc-dog series in the world. There is no entry fee for competitors and admission is free for all spectators (www.hyperflite.com/competition.html).
