Auburn Planning Manager Receives 2010 Barbara Grace AwardFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 18, 2010 Contact: Kevin Snyder, Planning & Development Director AUBURN, Wash. – October 18, 2010 – Elizabeth Chamberlain, AICP, Planning Manager for the City of Auburn, has received the 2010 Barbara Grace Award from the Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association. On Oct. 6, Chamberlain was recognized by over 100 of her peers at the Washington Chapter’s annual meeting. The award is given annually to a professional planner who has distinguished her or himself with dedication to public service and professional accomplishment, who help “Make Great Communities Happen” and represent the future leadership of the planning profession. Chamberlain has over seven years of professional experience, four of those years with the City of Auburn. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). In her current position, she manages current and long range planning activities for the City and is the lead staff person for downtown planning and development activities. Chamberlain is currently the project manager for the City Hall Plaza renovation project and the South Division Street Promenade project. Kevin Snyder, Planning & Development Department Director, nominated Chamberlain for this award because of her multiple accomplishments on behalf of the City and her leadership in the Planning & Development Department. “I was pleased to nominate Elizabeth for this award and very happy that her peers chose her for this prestigious award," said Snyder. "Elizabeth is a talented planning professional and valuable member of the Auburn Planning and Development Department.” The Auburn City Council will recognize Elizabeth’s receipt of the 2010 Barbara Grace Aware at its Oct. 18 meeting. # # # City of Auburn |
