AUBURN, Wash. – June 21, 2010 – The City of Auburn is pleased to announce Kevin Snyder as the Planning and Development Director. Snyder was hired by the City in September 2008 as the Assistant Planning Director and assumed duties as interim director in December 2009. Auburn Mayor Pete Lewis made the announcement at the June 21 council meeting.
He previously worked in Vancouver (Wash.) where he was the Director of Planning Services/Principal Planner for the consulting firm Maul Foster and Alongi, Inc. where he started the first corporate business line of service, overseeing corporate operations, business and management, and project management for public and private sector projects.
He also spent two years as the Director of the newly created Community Development Department for the City of Ridgefield, Wash., was the first Current Planning Manager for the newly incorporated City of Spokane Valley, and was a Senior Planner for both the city of Beaverton, Ore. and Battle Ground, Wash.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Linfield College, and his Masters in Urban & Regional Planning from Portland State University. Snyder has over 16 years of Planning experience, is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners, and is a member of the American Planning Association, National, Washington and Oregon Chapters.
