AUBURN, Wash. - October 1, 2010 - The rich and eclectic sounds of Brazilian-Caribbean quintet, Sambatuque, will be heard Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Auburn Avenue Theater as part of the 2010-2011 City of Auburn BRAVO performing arts season.

Sambatuque (pron. “samba-too-kie”) is a new Seattle-based group fronted by singer/dancer Mikaela Romero with Jeff Busch on percussion, Tim Carey on guitar, Alex Chadsey on keys and Denny Stern on congas. The rich and subtle beauty of Brazilian harmonies powerful rhythms, and the vibrant dancing create an experience that is uplifting and infectious!

With influences ranging from Jovino Santos Neto to Bob Marley to Ivete Sangalo, Sambatuque has played at such venues as the Capital Hill Block Party, the Last Supper Club and “Music in the Park” in Olympia.
