King County presents Green World Cup Contest

KING COUNTY - June 8, 2010 - Coinciding with the World Cup soccer tournament in South Africa, King County invites you to participate in the Green World Cup contest –a celebration of green living worldwide. Do you know exciting ways people are embracing going green around the globe? Share your stories or images with King County. The most innovative, unique and effective idea will win four tickets to see the Seattle Sounders FC play the Houston Dynamo on August 8, 2010, at Qwest Field! 

For example: A high tech toilet from Japan, or the donkeys that haul recycling in a town in Sicily.If you like, submit a video or picture along with your written description. Submissions may be made online or mailed to Tom Watson, King County EcoConsumer, 201 S. Jackson St. #701, Seattle, WA, 98104. All submissions must be received by June 25. Entries are welcome in any language.

Eligibility

This contest is open to King County residents (no King County employees please). One entry allowed per person.

How to enter

Submit a 250-words-or-less text description, online or by mail. Optional: You may submit an original video two minutes or less in length, or one original photo. Photos and videos can be submitted by mailing a DVD to the above address, or by including a link to your online video or photo in your contest entry. The green practice or product must have originated in another country or culture and have a positive impact on the environment.

Prizes

First prize: 4 tickets to Sounders FC vs. Houston Dynamo soccer game at Qwest Field in Seattle on August 8, 2010.Two runner-up prizes: Alchemy Goods recycled backpack and Energizer solar charger.Winning entries and others will be featured on the King County EcoConsumer website this summer.

Judging

A panel of judges will evaluate the entries according to several factors including environmental impact, creativity, detail and presentation. All judges' decisions and rule interpretations are final.Join other King County residents in a fun EcoConsumer promotion: the "Green World Cup" Contest. Due to a high interest in the World Cup soccer tournament, King County has decided to have a contest at the same time inviting King County residents to submit examples of green living from different countries and cultures. The deadline for entries is June 25.
