Auburn Community Players announces 2011 production of Bye Bye BirdieContact: Jim Kleinbeck Auburn Community Players (Facebook) WHAT: Auburn Community Players present Bye Bye Birdie AUBURN, Wash. - May 26, 2011 - Auburn Community Players will be flashing back to the 50’s for their second production, Bye Bye Birdie, running at the Auburn Ave Theater on June 3, 4, 10, and 11 at 7:30 p.m. and June 5 & 11 at 2 p.m. When Conrad Birdie is drafted into the army, his manager, Albert, has to find a way to go out with a bang. Albert’s secretary, Rosie, comes up with a perfect plan. Send Birdie off with “one last kiss” to one of his adoring fans, Kim MacAfee, paired with his final hit song, all on the Ed Sullivan Show! But can the little town of Sweet Apple, Ohio handle a rock star’s last day’s as a civilian? And can Kim’s new boyfriend forgive Birdie’s kiss? This show is one of the most captivating musical shows of our time. It is a satire done with the fondest affection. “An English Teacher”, “What Did I Ever See in Him?”, “Put on a Happy Face”, “One Boy”, “A Lot of Livin' to Do, Kids”, “Rosie” and “Spanish Rose” are musical theatre classics.
