AUBURN, Wash. - January 3, 2011 - The spellbinding style of Rainbow Dance Theatre, which fuses world dance, computer animation, aerial choreography, hip hop, martial arts and modern dance, will be featured at the Auburn Performing Arts Center as part of the BRAVO performing arts season on Friday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m.

Three remarkable dance stories create Rainbow Dance Theatre’s Mystery and Magic. Man of my Dreams literally takes a traditional ballet for a ride on scooters and a Segway. Mixed Bag uses garbage bags as set and costume pieces to create stunning visual effects while commenting on waste. And Big Bang combines a tour-de-force of pull-out-the-stops dancing and aerial choreography with the mystery of illusion to depict a dark “sea” of creatures known and unknown.

Delighting audiences of all ages with its athletic “pull-out-the-stops celebration of dancing that pays homage to world-dance and –music influences” (Sheryl Dare, Honolulu Advertiser), RDT’s repertory features modern works with roots in the traditions of many world cultures. Combined with innovative aerial choreography, visually stunning interactive sets and full-stage 3-D backdrops, the distinctive choreography of artistic directors Darryl Thomas and Valerie Bergman creates “an exotic feast for the senses,” (Isamu Jordan, Spokane Spokesman Review).

Rainbow Dance Theatre is directed by internationally renowned dancer-choreographers Valerie Bergman and Darryl Thomas. Its name highlights its roots in Hawaii, the “land of rainbows”, as well as the ethnic diversity of its company members and the diverse cultural influences in the choreography performed by the Company. The Company celebrates this diversity as well as state-of-the-art technology in dance theatre performance with its virtuosic style.

The City of Auburn BRAVO Performing Arts Series includes music, dance, and theater performances for all ages throughout the year. We invite you to share all these magnificent moments on stage where extraordinary things come to life, making Auburns BRAVO Season More Than You Imagined!
