City of Auburn announces 2011-12 BRAVO performing arts seasonFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 24, 2011 AUBURN, Wash. - August 24, 2011 - Auburn’s 2011-2012 BRAVO series features an incredible line-up of music, dance, comedy, films, and theater at the Auburn Avenue Theater and the Auburn Performing Arts Center. This showcase of talent from across the globe in downtown Auburn will translate into magnificent moments on stage. With almost 70 performances during the season, there is truly quality entertainment for everyone. (View full season line-up.) The 2011-12 season will include: a Marx Brothers film series culminating in a live performance of An Evening with Groucho, tap sensations Rhythmic Circus, the amazing magic of Steffan Soule, and the country music of the Horse Crazy Cowgirl Band. The series also includes monthly comedy shows coordinated with the Seattle Comedy Underground as well as the laugh out loud Seattle International Comedy Festival; Ave Kids, a series of Saturday matinees for kids; Halloween, Holiday and Oscar Movies; jazz; hip-hop dance; tributes to Elvis, Buddy Holly, Sinatra, and John Denver; and our own local Auburn Community Players presenting The Wizard of Oz in October 2011 and Footloose in June 2012. Performances are presented at the Auburn Avenue Theater, a 250-seat intimate performance space, as well as at the Auburn Performing Arts Center, a 1,100 seat auditorium. Auburn’s Performing Arts Series captures Auburn’s community spirit and gathers friends, colleagues and neighbors for an unforgettable performing art experience.
