AUBURN, Wash. – January 25, 2011 - Grammy Award winners and Carnegie Hall performers Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel will be taking the stage at the Auburn Avenue Theater, Saturday, February 19 at 7:30p.m. The duo is fresh off a year long celebration marking the 25th anniversary of their musical pairing.

Eric and Nancy have performed, recorded and have been touring together for over 25 years with 19 albums to their credit, traveling to as many as 50 concert venues a year. Eric Tingstad is a composer who plays fingerstyle guitar. Nancy Rumbel is one of the world’s premier oboe and English horn players and a virtuoso of the double ocarina.

The two began their collaboration in 1985, with their debut album, The Gift, quickly becoming a holiday classic. The next 20 years saw countless reviews including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Billboard and number one debuts on several radio charts. In 1998, their album American Acoustic was honored as “Acoustic Instrumental Album of the Year.” In 2000 Tingstad and Rumbel appeared at Carnegie Hall and in 2003 received a Grammy Award for Acoustic Garden.

Nancy grew up in San Antonio, Texas and continued her musical education at Northwestern University where she became interested in ethnomusicology (the study of social and cultural aspects of music and dance in local and global contexts), improvisation and dance. She was a member of the Paul Winter Consort for several years prior to her move to the Pacific Northwest. Eric grew up in Seattle and attended Western Washington University where he was trained in the Segovian classic guitar tradition.

The City of Auburn BRAVO Performing Arts Series includes music, dance, and theater performances for all ages throughout the year. We invite you to share all these magnificent moments on stage where extraordinary things come to life, making Auburns BRAVO Season More Than You Imagined!
