Free Tap-Dance Workshop with Nationally Recognized Dancers and Choreographers Jan. 21 in AuburnContact: Maija McKnight, Art Coordinator FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 13, 2012 What: Free Tap Workshop Join the talented Rhythmic Circus that will be performing as part of the BRAVO Performing Arts Series for a hands-on workshop of tap, dance, and revelry. AUBURN, Wash. - January 13, 2012 - On Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Auburn Avenue Theater, bring your tap shoes to experience this one-hour workshop with some of the best performers in the country. Prior tap experience is requested, but all levels welcome! This free workshop is part of the BRAVO Performing Arts Series, which will be hosting their stage production Feet Don’t Fail Me Now! on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Auburn Performing Arts Center. Rhythmic Circus satisfies their “rhythmic appetite” on everything from sand to folding chairs, and in one number even utilizes the technology of electric drum triggers to change the sound of their taps. This unforgettable show is guaranteed to leave audiences of all ages amazed with its unique “you have to see it to believe it” quality! Rhythmic Circus is proud to have assembled one of the most talented and innovative live performance groups in the nation. Dancers include Ricci Milan, Nick Bowman, Kaleena Miller, Eddie Strachan and Galen Higgins. Bowman is one of the dance industry’s finest tap technicians and one of the most sought-after tap choreographers in the U.S. He is currently on faculty with the nation’s premier dance convention West Coast Dance Explosion, for which he has been the master tap teacher for the past 5 seasons. Miller has been tap dancing for over 20 years and is an accomplished performer, choreographer and teacher. Milan, a proud Minnesotan, has been professionally entertaining audiences for over 15 years. Strachan, trained in many disciplines spanning from tap dancing to gymnastics to musical theatre, is one of the most versatile dancers today. Higgins teaches at local studios around Minnesota and has worked as an assistant choreographer for the nationally known Kelle Catalog. BRAVO Performing Arts Series and associated workshops is presented by the Auburn Arts Commission and Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation.
