Legislature

Auburn residents are represented by elected officials at the city, county, state and federal level. Auburn is represented in two counties (King and Pierce), two legislative districts (31st and 47th) and two congressional districts (8th and 9th). Elected officials representing Auburn in 2009 are:

King County (District 7)

  • Pete von Reichbauer

Pierce County (District 1)

  • Shawn Bunney

31st Legislative District

  • Sen. Pam Roach (R-Auburn)
  • Rep. Dan Roach (R-Sumner)
  • Rep. Christopher Hurst (D-Enumclaw)

47th Legislative District

  • Sen. Claudia Kauffman (D-Kent)
  • Rep. Geoff Simpson (D-Covington)
  • Rep. Pat Sullivan (D-Covington)

8th & 9th Congressional Districts

  • Sen. Patty Murray (D)
  • Sen. Maria Cantwell (D)
  • Rep. Dave Reichert (R) - 8th District
  • Rep. Adam Smith (D) - 9th District

However, to effectively perform their job, legislators rely heavily on input from many different sources. Yet, much of what they actually decide depends on the views, interests and preferences of the citizens who elect them.
