Mayor Pete LewisMayor Pete Lewis was elected to his current office in January of 2002 after having served as a city councilmember since 1998. He is currently serving in his third term. Born in Boston, Mass. and growing up in a military family he has lived in many places across the United States. Lewis first came to the Auburn community in 1980 to work as a banker with a primary goal to find a permanent home for wife Kathy and their two daughters. For nearly 20 years, Lewis worked in Auburn as a community banker and community volunteer. He was involved with many community groups and served on multiple boards including The Auburn Noon Lions, Auburn Food Bank, Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce, North Auburn Merchants, Metro South King County Reorganization Committee, Parking Committee and Miss Auburn. He is a strong believer in community involvement; he has always been active in a variety of local organizations and encourages others to do the same. Pete currently serves as chair of Association of Washington Cities Economic Development and Infrastructure sub-committee, Vice Chair of the King County Regional Policy Committee. He serves as a member on the Valley Communications Center (Valley Com) Board, Suburban Cities Association (SCA), Public Issues Committee of SCA, Past Chair, Green River Valley Flood Control District, South County Area Transportation Board, Pierce County Cities and Towns Forum, Valley Cities Association and the South Correctional Entity. In addition he is a member of U.S. Conference of Mayors Transportation Committee, International Trade Committee and Amtrak Advisory Board. He has been committed to working in partnership to increase business development while keeping the sense of a small town community whole. As a U.S. Navy veteran he has worked hard to help veterans groups and veterans in need and is proud of the fact that he helped open the first King County Veteran's office outside of downtown Seattle that recently opened at Veterans Memorial Park. Mayor Lewis is committed to an open door policy. His door is always open and he encourages citizens to stop in and visit. He is always willing to schedule meetings out in the neighborhoods to work in partnership with the Auburn community which he truly believes to be More Than You Imagined! CONTACT: |
