Council Subcommittees

The Council has four standing committees: Finance, Municipal Services, Planning and Community Development, and Public Works. The Committees' meeting schedules, Council membership and functions are described below:

Finance Committee

• Meets: First and third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, located on the first floor of Auburn City Hall.
• Members: Nancy Backus, Chair; Lynn Norman, Vice Chair; John Partridge, member.
• Function: Monitors fiscal activities of the City, develops policies relating to finance, human resources, municipal court, legal, Information Services and real property.

Municipal Services Committee

• Meets: Second and fourth Monday of each month at 4 p.m. in Conference Room 3, located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall.
• Members: Bill Peloza, Chair; Sue Singer, Vice Chair; John Partridge, member.
• Function: Makes recommendations on policies relating to police, solid waste, airport, annexation, golf course, cemetery, animal control, telecommunications and cable TV.

Planning & Community Development Committee

• Meets: Second and fourth Monday of each month at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers, located on the first floor of Auburn City Hall.
• Members: Lynn Norman, Chair; Nancy Backus, Vice Chair; Rich Wagner, member.
• Function: Makes recommendations on policies relating to land use and zoning; code enforcement, building permits, annexation, economic development, human services, parks and recreation; cultural arts, museum, Mary Olson Farm, senior center, King County Library liason, communications and community services.

Public Works Committee

• Meets: First and third Monday of each month at 3 p.m. in Council Chambers, located on the first floor of Auburn City Hall.
• Members: Rich Wagner, Chair; Sue Singer, Vice Chair; Bill Peloza, member.
• Function: Makes recommendations on policies relating to water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, transportation (streets), right-of-way use, engineering, maintenance and operations; and equipment rental.

Other committees:

Community Center Committee

• Meets: as needed by call of the chairperson
• Members: Rich Wagner, Chair; Lynn Norman, Vice Chair; Bill Peloza, member.
• Function: Makes recommendations on policies regarding Les Gove capital projects, operating policies and Boys & Girls Club

Downtown Redevelopment Committee

• Meets: Second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in Council Chambers located on the first floor of City Hall
• Members: Lynn Norman, Chair; Sue Singer, Vice Chair; Nancy Backus, member.
• Function: Makes recommendations on policies regarding development agreements, operating policies and farmer's market 

Committee on Committees

• Meets: as needed by call of the chairperson
• Members: Rich Wagner, Chair; Sue Singer, Vice Chair; Nancy Backus, member.
• Function: Responsible for council committee structure, membership and operating policies.
