Lynn Norman

Lynn Norman was elected to serve her second term on the Auburn City Council for a term beginning January 2008 through December 31, 2011. She is the Chair of the Planning and Community Development Committee, and serves on the Finance Committee and previously served the Municipal Services Committee. Norman represents the City on the LEOFF (Law Enforcement Officers Firefighters Disability) Board, and sits on the council’s Community Center Committee and chairs the Downtown Redevelopment Committee. She is also working on the Boundless Playground Task Force. She currently serves on the Puget Sound Regional Council’s Growth Management Policy Board, working on growth strategies and mitigation for a four county area.

Norman attended Western Washington College and is a graduate of the Leadership Institute of South Puget Sound, for which she is now Administrative Director & Facilitator. She owned and operated a retail business, Country Spice, in downtown Auburn from 1981 to 2001.

She has a long history of community involvement, including serving on the Green River Community College Foundation Board, and the Pediatric Interim Care Center Board. She served several years as Chairwoman of the 4Culture Arts Advisory Committee and is past Chair of the Auburn Arts Commission. She has also served as Chairwoman of the Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce, President of Soroptimist Int’l of Auburn, and was a founding member of the Auburn Downtown Association.

Norman was designated the Chamber’s Business of the Year in 1987 and Citizen of the Year in 1999. She was selected as the Soroptimist of Auburn Woman of Distinction and was nominated for the Nellie Cashman Woman Entrepreneur of the Year. She was also honored together with her mother-in-law, Helen Norman, as an Auburn Hometown Hero in December 2003 and was honored by her peers as the Leadership Institute of South Puget Sound’s Distinguished Alumni in 2007.

Norman and her husband Dan have lived, worked and raised their two children in Auburn.
