Environment

Managing Our Environmental Resources Imagine a time when Auburn-area rivers flowed wild, coniferous old growth forests and game were plentiful, and people relied on the area’s natural resources for sustenance. Although we have seen significant change in the landscape in the past 150 years, Auburn maintains natural resources that are of regional significance.

Natural Resource Management integrates all components of city government in the preservation and maintenance of these resources for the benefit of the community and for future generations.

Help Protect and Maintain Auburn’s Natural Environment

Conserve water

  • Go easy on the use of fertilizers and pesticides and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for use
  • Consider other options on your lawn and garden such as composting and using a mulching mower
  • Recycling not only helps industries create jobs for people, it helps beautify the tremendous natural resources that are present in
  • Auburn (i.e. wetlands, streams, rivers, and urban forests)
  • Most importantly—get involved in the community and make a difference in the area we live and work in
