Definition of Neighborhood: A place where people are attached to a group committed to preserving or advancing the comforts offered by that particular place.

Auburn is a network of a dozen or more neighborhoods. Each neighborhood is unique. They typically have distinct geographic features, some sort of a business district, schools, parks, and other amenities that residents hope to preserve. Neighborhoods are defined by the style of the buildings and the characteristics of the people who inhabit them. Neighborhood planning is an opportunity for residents, business owners, City departments, and community organizations/institutions to actively plan together and develop a vision for a particular neighborhood along with strategies to achieve it.
