False alarm programDid you know that 98.7% of alarms are false and that 76% are caused by user error? Handling false alarms takes officers away from emergencies and neighbors often begin to ignore valid alarms, thus leading all alarm systems to be less reliable. The City of Auburn Alarm Ordinance requires that all alarm systems be registered with the Police Department. There is a one-time fee of $18.50 for the lifetime the alarm is in service. Alarm permits are not transferable. If there is an existing alarm permit and you are a new owner, you must register the permit under your name. Please keep emergency contact numbers on the registration current. If your contact numbers change please update them by contacting the Police Department at 253-931-3080. There is no cost for the update. |
