NEW! Solar Plate Printing
Join Auburn’s Arts Coordinator Allison Hyde to learn the exciting process of non-toxic solar-plate printing! Students will create hand-printed images on light-sensitive plates from their own photographs, learn to ink and print with the press, and experiment with printing onto various materials like paper, fabric and wood. No experience is required, students of all levels are welcome, and all materials for the workshop will be provided.

Indonesian Batik Fabric Painting
Join Lely Shim to learn the beautiful and unique technique of Indonesian Batik! Students will learn the traditional art of wax-resist dyeing on cloth to create beautiful colored motifs or patterns. All materials will be included for this class and no prior experience is required.

NEW! Fused Glass Pendants
Learn how to make beautiful fused glass pendants in this intro to glass jewelry class! We will explore some of the techniques of kiln formed glass and design using a range of glass making techniques and processes to create beautiful jewelry. No skills required and all materials will be provided by the instructor.

Needle Felting for Beginners
Learn to needle felt with Janet, the artist of the popular Etsy Shop “Janet’s Needle Felting.” Needle felting is a process which uses barbed needles to interlock wool fibers to form desired shapes. In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn the basics of needle felting, such as shaping, adding colors, connecting different materials. Bring your beloved pet’s photos or favorite objects - make a mini version of it!  No skills required and all materials will be provided by the instructor.

NEW! Salish Style Paddle Carving
Carve your own Coast Salish style paddle from yellow cedar using traditional hand tools! The experienced instructor will show students how to use adze and crooked knife to finish a paddle you can hang on your wall or use when you go out to “pull water.” No experience required and all materials will be provided. Students will need to provide measurement of distance from ground to bottom of chin before the class.

NEW! Intro to Cyanotype Photography
Meet and work with the talented artist Zachary Burns as he teaches students how to make unique photographic images! This class will explore analog photography by learning about one of the oldest processes, the photographic blueprint or cyanotype. In this class you will learn how to coat paper with cyanotype chemistry, create photograms using natural and manmade materials, and create a digital negative. 

Students should bring a digital image they would like to print and a few small objects to make photograms. Objects with some transparency or small detail typically work well. No experience necessary and all other materials will be provided for the class.

NEW! Wycinanki Papercut Workshop
This fun one-day workshop is an introduction to Wycinanki, the Polish style of papercutting! Students will use exacto knives and special fine scissors to cut a design out of black paper using a simple single fold. Traditional Polish templates will be provided, and students can use them as a starting point, or as an inspiration for their own creativity! We will address techniques for smooth cutting and reduced tearing, composition and use of negative space, and securing the design to a background for framing.  Students must bring short-blade, sharp scissors.  Embroidery scissors will work, and papercutting scissors are readily available.  Instructor will provide Exacto knives, extra blades, scherenschnitte paper, mounting supplies and cellophane sleeves to take finished work home.
