HAIKU TARGETS - 52199
Learn the literary targets for haiku poetry, such as kigo (season words) and kireji (cutting words, or a two-part structure). No, it's not just 5-7-5 syllables! This workshop, led by Michael Dylan Welch, features a PowerPoint presentation and handouts. We'll discuss haiku history in Japan and North America, and explore haiku's common characteristics before doing writing exercises and optional sharing.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY - 52091
Learn to take better photos with your digital camera! Topics include basic operation of your camera, composition strategies, basic lighting issues, and tips, tricks and techniques to create that perfect shot! Class incorporates exercises with constructive critiques. Bring a digital camera that you are already familiar with (Smart phone, point and shoot, DSLR).

NATIVE AMERICAN STYLE HAND DRUM - 52092
Spend an evening making the same kind of drum used by Native American artists and in Native gatherings all over the northwest. Using soaked deer rawhide and a maple hoop, you will lace together a traditional 14'' diameter one-sided "flat drum" and buckskin covered drumstick. Then we will discuss traditional Salish visual design and how you can paint your personal design on your drum after it dries. Instructor Kenneth Greg Watson has helped more than 400 people make drums of this style, mostly in Native American classrooms from middle school to college. These drums look good and sound great! All materials for this class will be provided.

A follow-up to the Native American Style Hand Drum class, students will discuss and learn traditional Salish visual design and how to paint your personal design on your drum. These drums look good and sound great! All materials for this class will be provided, but students must have also taken the first class of the series.

INDONESIAN BATIK FABRIC PAINTING - 52094
Join Lely Shim to learn the beautiful and unique technique of Indonesian Batik! Students will learn the traditional art of wax-resist dyeing on cloth to create beautiful colored motifs or patterns. All materials will be included for this class and no prior experience is required.

BLOCK PRINT HOLIDAY CARDS - 52095
In this family-friendly class you will learn how to transfer an image to a linoleum block, carve the block, and print your own handmade holiday cards! Get into the festive spirit and maybe start a new tradition by trying this simple and fun printing process. All materials for this class will be provided.

PEARL CLUSTER EARRINGS - 52096
Pearl Cluster Earrings will make the perfect holiday gift or accessory to your holiday outfit! Students will learn how to make beautiful earrings with a couple simple wire-working techniques. No skills required and all materials will be provided by the instructor.
