Ave Kids

Auburn AVE Kids showcases local, regional and national acts and touring presentations with an emphasis on audiences ages 4 through 12 and their parents, families, or friends. Most AVE Kids performances take place at Auburn Avenue Theater, located at 10 Auburn Ave, unless otherwise noted.

The AVE Kids performances are included as part of the City's overall BRAVO Performing Arts Season. Purchase several performances together and you are eligible for a discount! For details, view ticket and ordering information.

The Reluctant Dragon

Our dragon is not the fearsome type, but like the boy who befriends him, is more interested in art and poetry. The villagers, however, assume that they are in grave danger and send for Sir George, the renowned dragon slayer to save them. With the boy’s help, Sir George learns that the dragon poses no threat to anyone, but to keep the villagers happy, he and the dragon stage a mock battle with great showmanship. Based on the story by Kenneth Grahame and brought to life by Tears of Joy Theater.

This musical brings life to  the story of a Pinocchio, a  puppet who wants to be a real boy and faces trials, tribulations, bullying and more.   Performed in the  Italian theater tradition of Commedia Dell'arte which relates to unwritten or improvised drama, this classic tale will come to life on stage courtesy of the Tacoma Musical Playhouse. In a faraway kingdom, the green ogre Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits, runaways who've been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wise-cracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task - if he rescues feisty Princess Fiona from the Dragon-guarded tower, his swamp will be returned to him. But, a fairy tale wouldn't be complete without unexpected twists and turns along the way.
