Call to Artists


Downtown Sculpture Gallery
The City of Auburn invites sculptors to submit proposals for Auburn's Downtown Sculpture Gallery. The works selected for this public art exhibition will be on loan to the City for a period of eleven (11) months and can be available for sale during that time.

Each artist will receive a $1000 stipend and at the conclusion of the exhibition a work or works from the exhibition may be purchased for inclusion in the City of Auburn's permanent collection. Purchase budget is $10,000. Application deadline is July 21, 2014.

Auburn's Fall Art Walk will occur on Friday, September 5, 5:00-9:00 PM and is seeking artist participation.  Full details available at www.auburnartwalk.com and deadline is on August 1, 2014 (extended deadline!). 

 City of Auburn Galleries


The City of Auburn is seeking artists and/or artist groups working in two-dimensional media to exhibit their work at two City of Auburn gallery spaces during 2015.  Galleries are within the Auburn City Hall (25 W Main) and the Senior Center's Cheryl Sallee Gallery (808 Ninth Street SE). Artists and/or artists groups of diverse mediums are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to: paint, ink, pencil, mixed media, textiles, mosaic, glass, recycled materials, photography, calligraphy, collage, fiber art, etc. Deadline October 6, 2014 and application is through CaFé call for entry.orglinks to external site



Auburn's StreetScape Art is a program that seeks to enliven and activate otherwise empty storefront windows in Auburn's Historic Downtown by providing temporary space to artists, creative businesses, organizations and community groups. Applications for Static Installations and Active Enterprise are accepted on a rolling basis and placed as spaces become available.

Artist participation is sought on an ongoing basis and applications are accepted through CaFé an online call-to-artists servicelinks to external site

Seeking Nominations for 

City of Auburn Poet Laureate 


The City of Auburn Poet Laureate recognizes and honors a citizen poet of exceptional talent and accomplishment. The Poet Laureate also encourages appreciation of poetry and literary life in Auburn. Once a Poet Laureate program is established the Auburn Arts Commission will forward a recommendation to the Mayor for final selection and appointment.  Download full nomination application. (PDF)

Opportunities for Visual Artists

The City of Auburn Arts Commission annually offers several opportunities for visual artists to exhibit their works. The Arts Commission begins seeking submissions from 2-dimensional visual artists at the end of summer and in early fall. Other opportunities are posted throughout the year.
