Auburn Streetscapes

StreetScapesAuburn StreetScape is a program that seeks to enliven and activate otherwise empty storefront windows in Auburn's Historic Downtown by providing temporary space to artists, creative businesses, organizations and community groups. Applications for Static Installations and Active Enterprise are accepted on a rolling basis and placed as spaces become available. Auburn StreetScapes is a partnership between the City of Auburn and Auburn Downtown Associationlinks to external site.

Artist participation is sought on an ongoing basis and applications are accepted through CaFE, an online call-to-artists servicelinks to external site.

Auburn StreetScapes program is a continuation of Storefronts Auburn was featured in CityVision Magazine (PDF) and Seattle Times Business Section (PDF).

Streetscapes Auburn installation at One Main showcases "Butterfly – Web of Life" Installation by artist Sarah Lovettlinks to external site Public artist Sarah Lovett is known for her public performances of large scale puppets at festivals throughout the region and is allowing her Butterfly to be on display in downtown Auburn as part of Streetscapes Auburn for the next several months. Filling up the vacant windows at One Main, the butterfly puppet is suspended by a web of bright yellow and illuminated throughout the day for downtown visitors to enjoy. Adjacent to the butterfly, large white translucent balloons are suspended and inflate and deflate in a slow rhythmic sequence.
